After the (disappointing) announcement of Apple’s iPhone 4S, the tech world is gearing up for Samsung’s upcoming Samsung Mobile Unpacked event where Samsung is said to reveal its other flagship device(besides its wildly popular Galaxy SII) the Samsung Nexus Prime. Samsung even has an Unpacked app in the Android Market to keep you up to date and informed on the Unpacked event. You can even watch the event live from the app if you’re unable to attend the live event. How cool is that?
The Nexus Prime is speculated to be among the top five cellphones out when it’s released with some amazing specs. Allegedly. And I say allegedly because after the iPhone 4S/5 fiasco where BGR, with their “unknown source” sent the tech world in a tizzy, I’m hesitant to print anything they say as fact. And in case you don’t remember, here’s a refresher. You would think an infamous iFanboy site like BGR would at least get its facts correct when it comes to their favorite device. They’ve even been nicknamed iBGR by readers and tech columnists alike because of their over the top iZombie behavior. Well, iBGR is at it again with their so-called “exclusive leaks“.
According to BGR, and now being reported by reputable sites like Phonedog and TechCrunch as well as less reputable sites like. Phonearena, Nexus Prime specs have “leaked” before Samsungs October 11th event. Now, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, a rumor is a rumor IS A RUMOR and as such, this information should be taken not only with a grain of salt… Nah… With a DUMP TRUCK full of salt and a car load full of pepper to boot. It could, in fact be correct. From other information I’ve seen before on the Nexus Prime around these hallowed interwebz, it appears to be similiar. But after that last spectacular cluster fuck, you’ll forgive me if I I tip toe on the side of caution. Here are the RUMORED and UNCONFIRMED but could be correct specs of the Samsung Nexus Prime:

Now those are some super phone, beastly specs. Easily trumping the specs of that app launcher masquerading as a smartphone called the iPhone 4S. Being a Nexus phone, only the pure Google Experience will fly here. No third party UI’s like HTC Sense or Motorola’s MotoBlur. Unfortunately its also being rumored that the Nexus Prime is a Verizon Wireless Exclusive in the United States. At least for the time being. There’s even another unconfirmed Rumor that the Nexus Prime may dock with a Nexus Tablet, much like Motorola’s tablet docking Photon and Atrix super phones. Oh… And BGR is also reporting the phone will be called the Galaxy Nexus. Though why Google would allow Samsung to merge its Nexus name with Samsung’s Galaxy line is beyond me and makes little sense. It dilutes both brands. Especially since Samsung’s Galaxy SII line is still launching in the United States. Time and the date of October 11th will tell if BGR is correct in all of this. And after that last fubar, I hope they are correct.

In the tech world, it is hard to come by reliable information concerning certain, big ticket products. Companies jealously guard their secrets because they want to keep a leg up on the competition and oft times, incorrect information may be purposely bandied about and handed out to tech journalists. And while the onus is on said tech journalists to perform due diligence in extracting fact from fiction, sometimes its impossible to do so, hence the prefacing of said information with the word RUMOR.
