Yesterday was the 2011 Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival with headliner Q-Tip. The tribe frontman came out with iconic acts such as M.O.P., Lords of the Underground and Marley Marl. While the crowd was treated to a special guest performance by Black Thought, and fellow Native Tongue emcees, Monie Love and Busta Rhymes, Tip had a couple more tricks up his sleeve – one of those being a certain Mr. West. Donning a Phife Dawg-like outfit of a snap back hat and retro jersey, Kanye joined Q-Tip on stage to perform ATCQ’s classic, “Award Tour”.

The festival featured a well-balanced line-up of seasoned veterans and hungry, talented rookies.  Other performers in the day-long event included Kendrick Lamar, Diamond District, Tiye Phoenix, Rah Digga, Eternia, Homeboy Sandman Stalley and several others.

Backstage attendees included Jeru Da Damaja,  Michael Rapaport, Freeway, Jakk Frost, Grand Daddy I.U., Statik Selektah, Bumpy Knuckles and others.

The good music prevailed over the heat and made this years festival another great success. So, those that planned on coming and didn’t make it out,  you missed out!
