Last night, I headed to Brooklyn Bowl for the seventh annual Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival‘s first night event, the Show and Prove Super Bowl, with a exciting competition between three extraordinarily great acts, each of whom won one of Brooklyn Bodega’s Show and Prove contests in a different month this spring. All three did their thing: Chris Faust out of Brooklyn, the dynamic and dope Clear Soul Forces from Detroit, who had some amazing moves, and the eventual winner L.A., also a Brooklyn native, who ended her set by jumping off the stage and rapping from the floor of Brooklyn Bowl surrounded by the enthusiastic crowd.
After winning last night’s Show and Prove, L.A. will take the stage on 7/16 during the Main Day of the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival!
The Artifacts, J-Live, Oddissee (with J-Live) also performed and the night ended with a performance by legendary Bronx duo, Camp Lo.
The Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival is more than just a concert — it’s a full week of events. Concert-organizer Brooklyn Bodega will also host an art exhibition, DJ competition, panel discussion on music-related issues and a block party at the Tobacco Warehouse in DUMBO.
