Chalk this one up to rumor, but the good folks over at N4BB are saying that the rumored Blackberry Playbook 10′ has been scrapped by RIM in favor of a Blackberry “superphone” powered by QNX, the same OS found on the popular and already released Playbook. Here are some rumored specs for the Blackberry “superphone” –
*Single core 1.2GHz processor
*900+ resolution screen(a first for Blackberry smartphones)
*A 4.3 inch touchscreen(another first for Blackberry smartphones)
Not much else is known about the device being that this is still just a rumor but I have to say, a 4.3 inch touchscreen on a Blackberry device is long overdue and should have been implemented with the Storm 2. At least it seems to be that RIM is actually “getting it” now and stepping their game up in terms of handsets because Android and iOS are rapidly eating away at its market share. Couple that with calls from their investors for RIM’s “Spongebob & Patrick” dynamic duo co-CEO’s to split their duties with others and you can just imagine the up hill battle RIM is facing. Let’s hope for Blackberry’s sake, that this superphone rumor pans out to be true.
