The tweet by the Android kingpin himself says it all. Andy Rubin, Google’s VP of Mobile and the absolute man when it comes to the Android Operating System, tweeted that Android is up to an astounding 500,000 activations per day. That’s up 100,000 from earlier this year when he made the announcement at Google’s I/O convention that they were at 400,000 activations.
With half a million daily activations and growing, Android’s reach into the smartphone, tablet and even software arena’s are long indeed. And with Android’s Froyo and Gingerbread for current handsets, Honeycomb for tablets and Ice Cream Sandwich coming in the near future, Android isn’t showing any signs of slowing down.
And with activations growing 4.4% week over week, is it any wonder that Android commands the top spot in market share for both North America and world wide? If there is, with those numbers, there really shouldn’t be any. As a wise man once said, “Men lie, Women lie, but numbers don’t”.
