Ron Artest To Change His Name To “Metta World Peace”

We knew this guy was a little off but WTF?  L.A. Laker Ron Artest has filed a petition at a Los Angeles Superior Court to have his name legally changed to “Metta World Peace”.

And if you’re wondering, Metta is said to be a Buddhist term for Loving, Kindness, Happiness etc….

According to TMZ, he will have to wait until August before he can officially call himself by his proposed new name Mr. Metta World Peace, because that’s the earliest he can get in front of a judge.

As of now, the Lakers forward has a hearing scheduled for August 26 to make it legal, but according to the documents, anyone wishing to challenge Artest’s name selection can object in writing up until two days before the hearing. So if you don’t like it do something bout it.

Of course Ron Ron was a top trending topic on Twitter (Click Here) check out just a few of the jokes below:

Earlier this year Artest was recently awarded the J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award from the NBA for his work with mental health awareness. Artest himself has also become a lovable character, especially for NBA fans, if, for nothing else, than his silly, yet, sometimes bizarre antics. With that in mind, perhaps the name change shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. But “Metta World Peace” ? Really Ron? Really?
As for Artest, or, World Peace, he’s taking all the comments in stride.
