Motorola has just announced its latest darling to the world, and what a sweet handset it is. The Motorola PHOTON 4G is an Android powered handset running the latest version of the OS, Gingerbread 2.3.
Coming in with a nice diamond-type shape and a huge 4.3″ screen with a pixel resolution of 540×960, the PHOTON 4G also has a dual core NVIDIA Tegra 2 chipset with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. The handset also has an 8MP rear camera.
Since the PHOTON 4G is headed to Sprint, it will have Sprint’s WIMAX or 4G connectivity. The cool thing about it is that even though its a CDMA handset it will also have a 850/900/1900 GSM radio inside of it so it can be used worldwide on any GSM network. Data encryption and remote device management will be hallmarks of this device for enterprise use. It’s also capable of 720p HD recording has 1080p HDMI out. There’s also a cool feature MOTO calls “Mirror Mode”, which is HDMI-out mirroring of the phone’s screen to your HDTV.
Lastly, there are a few cool toys coming along with the PHOTON 4G. A Multimedia Dock, a Car Dock and a Laptop Dock(for hooking this bad boy up to and powering a laptop). But expect to pay extra to play with those toys. The PHOTON 4G(and cool toys) will be available at the beginning of Q3.
