Viacom announced that Judy McGrath is resigning from her position as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of its MTV Networks division. No successor will be named. McGrath, who began her career with the company as a copywriter at MTV in 1981, was named Chairman and CEO of MTV Networks in July 2004.
Warner Music has been bought by an industrial group whose holdings range from oil and aluminium firms to the UK’s Top Up TV. Access Industries, run by Russian born billionaire Len Blavatnik, paid $3.3bn in cash for the world’s third largest music firm. The purchase includes WMG’s entire recorded music and music publishing businesses. Blavatnik beat out more than a dozen other suitors including Sony Music Group, supermarket magnate Ron Burkle, Platinum Equity, Live Nation Entertainment and investment firm Kohlberg Kravis & Roberts, whose unsolicited offer late last year kicked off the auction process. KKR’s partner in the bidding was German music company Bertelsmann. The deal calls for Warner to receive $8.25 per share, a 34% premium over the company’s average stock price over the last six weeks, the company said. It’s also 75% higher than Warner’s closing price on Jan. 20, the day before the New York Times published news of the bidding. Warner’s share closed at $7.90 on Thursday.

Tommy Karas claims he found investors for Flav’s Fried Chicken in Las Vegas, Nevada earlier this year and was responsible for handling finances for the venture, which is due to open later this month despite the closing of its flagship spot in Clinton, Iowa.
A screenplay written by the late Tupac Shakur has been purchased by a studio and will hit the big screen in 2012.
“Live 2 Tell,” which the rapper wrote while he was in jail on weapons charges, centers around a teenage drug lord who tries to turn his back on a life of crime.
The script has been purchased by executives at NStar Studios, who have set the budget at $11 million and plan to begin production early next year.

Damn homie! In a press release sent out today, Sleek Audio has terminated their four month relationship with 50 Cent. No word as to why, but below is statement from Sleek CEO, Mark Krywko:

Pocket dialing is when a cell phone stuffed in someone’s pocket accidentally dials an actual number. In perhaps the worst example of pocket dialing ever, three larceny suspects were arrested after police overheard planning break-ins in upstate New York when one of the pocket dialed “911.”
Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin Walsh said that after the call came in, a dispatcher relayed the conversation to deputies. The men described their surroundings and discussed their plans as police listened, and even commented, “there go the cops now.”
Those who theorize a conspiracy around the death of Osama bin Laden can rest easy if they choose. Multiple websites linked with Al-Qaeda have confirmed the death of the Al-Qaeda leader.
The statement, dated May 3, was the first to acknowledge the death of their leader since he was killed by U.S. Navy Seals in a raid on his hideout in Abbottabad, Pakistan. Although the statement’s authenticity could not be independently confirmed, it was posted on websites where the terror group traditionally posts its messages.
Last week, Soulja Boy shocked everyone when he revealed in an interview that he would be starring in a remake of the 1992 hit movie Juice, and even more surprising, that he was playing Tupac’s character, Bishop. Though that claim has yet to be confirmed, Shade 45 caught up with Ice T and when he was asked for his opinion on the Juice remake to which he responded:
“What? But that’s Pac… At some point, somebody gotta stop it. I came out. I made some statements. Man, I don’t know. Do you, dude, do you. If the masses accept it, it shows you the state we’re in… Come on man, you think I’d try to remake Pac’s movie? Good luck though, I’m not a hater …Eh.”
