T.I. Could Do 8-14 Months inn Jail for Latest Arrest

Seems like deja vu for T.I. According to NY Daily News , T.I.’s probation officer is seeking that the rapper serve eight to 14 months in jail even though the guidelines are no more than five to 11 months. Tip violated his probation when he and his wife Tiny were arrested for possession of controlled substances and testing positive for opiates.

T.I. and his new wife Tiny were pulled over Sept. 1 after his Maybach allegedly made an illegal U-turn on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles with “a strong odor of marijuana” wafting from the vehicle.

Officers found Ecstasy pills and arrested the couple on suspicion of felony drug possession.

T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris, also had codeine and marijuana and tested positive for opiates, his probation officer stated in a petition.

He’s on three years supervised probation after a recent seven-month stretch in Arkansas federal prison for buying unregistered machine guns and silencers.

In the memorandum filed Friday, T.I.’s lawyer said the probation officer erred in asking for eight to 14 months because those are the guidelines for for violent career criminals. The lawyers say that shouldn’t apply to T.I. because his prior conviction for assaulting a Florida police detective does not qualify as a “violent felony.”
