Kanye West may be known to be overly outspoken but one thing is for sure, he knows music and he knows how to use it to express his innermost feelings.

In a new installment for the classic book series Chicken Soup For The Soul titled Chicken Soup For The Soul: The Story Behind The Song, Kanye speaks about how he was inspired to write about his loneliness he felt after speaking with MTV producer Dave Sirulnik about his family. He wrote about the meeting saying,

One day we were shooting in a hotel and I was talking to Dave Sirulnick, a producer from MTV, discussing ideas for a performance of mine. He had a small photo album of him and his wife and kids on the beach and doing different things together. It struck me that I really want to be married and have a family, but that hasn’t worked out for me. -via HipHopWired

The track Kanye West is speaking of is his song “Welcome to Heartbreak” off of his album 808’s & Heartbreak where he rapped, “My friend showed me pictures of his kids/ And all I could show him was pictures of my cribs.”

In Kanye’s section of the book, he speaks about using the experiences in his life which included getting past his failed relationship with ex-fiancé Alexis Phifer and the sudden passing of his mother Dr. Donda West to help in creating his album 808’s & Heartbreak.

It is not surprising that 808’s & Heartbreak was composed as a direct reflection of how Kanye West was feeling at the time. The Chicago rapper mentioned numerous times that his album was created to help him deal with the different changes he was experiencing in his life. This is actually where the Heartbreak in the album’s title fits in.

In addition to Kanye West; Melissa Ethridge, John Legend, and Christina Aguilera are also featured in Chicken Soup For The Soul: the Story Behind The Song.

The book will be available in stores tomorrow.
