So I was listening to music on YouTube and came across some piano performances by…Condoleeza Rice? I would never have guessed.
Apparently Condoleezza Rice studied French, figure skating, ballet, and piano from age three. She also studied at the Aspen Music Festival and School. At age 15, Condoleeza Rice planned on becoming a pianist, but realized that she did not have enough talent to be able to support herself on music alone. She subsequently cultivated her interest in politics.
It’s very interesting to think of what would happened if Condoleezza Rice had gone into music instead of politics.
Here’s a clip of Condoleezza Rice performing Dvorak’s Piano Quintet No. 2 at the Aspen Music Festival in 2008. I’m impressed that she is still able to perform the most difficult pieces in the piano repertoire, especially while serving full-time as Secretary of State.
