KRS-One & Buckshot “Survival Skills” Listening Party

Last night, I attended the KRS One & Buckshot Survival Skills listening party at 92Y in Tribeca. It was an intimate function with several writers, bloggers and photographers.

Pharoahe Monch and Torae were also in attendance. The album features the lead single “Robot,” produced by Havoc of Mobb Deep. Survival Skills, scheduled for a September 15 release, features production and appearances by 9th Wonder, Black Milk, Nottz, Mary J. Blige, Naledge of Kidz In The Hall, Talib Kweli and more. The video for “Robot,” the album’s lead single produced by Havoc of Mobb Deep, can currently be seen on MTV and BET. Survival Skills is scheduled for a September 15 release.

What KRS-One and Buckshot have created is an album that is socially responsible, lyrically sharp and sonically banging. Buckshot sums it up best, "Hip-Hop was started as an option to not killing each other. We created Hip-Hop so we didn’t have to do that anymore."
