Slum Village rapper Baatin Dies at 35

The music world is reacting to the death of Slum Villages’ Baatin. Baatin of Slum Village has died, his death prompting fans and industry leaders to send their love Saturday.

“R.I.P Baatin of Slum Village forever”

Baatin was set to join Elzhi and T3 on a 2009 release Villa Manifesto. As of noon Pacific Time, few details have been released about Baatin’s cause of death, and when it happened. Baatin’s co founder James (J. Dilla) Yancey passed in 2006.

T3 has said of Baatin’s return with Illa J this year:

“Slum Village is totally not that at all. I’m incorporating Baatin, and I’m putting Illa J in-not to take Dilla’s place, but just to have that essence of Dilla on this new project.

“I’m pulling together all the producers that we’ve used before-Black Milk, Wajeed , Kareem Riggins, Pete Rock and all the people who have been down with SV from day one.”
